Through It All: Remain Steadfast in God’s Promises.

Happy Everyone! Happy Tuesday!

It has been a while since I last reached out and today feels like the perfect time to reconnect. Life has a way of carrying us through unexpected seasons, some joyful, some challenging, but no matter where we are, there is always a reason to hold on to hope.

As I reflect on the apostle Paul’s journey, I am reminded of his unwavering faith despite hardships. Beaten, imprisoned, shipwrecked. He endured trials that would have broken most people. Yet, through it all, his heart remained steadfast in God’s promises.

The apostle Paul had much he could have grumbled about. He was beaten, jailed, shipwrecked, and nearly drowned; yet through it all, he discovered God was the source of his contentment. Paul understood God was in control of his life, even when he was in those overwhelming, tragic situations. Remember his songs of praise from the jail cell (Acts 16)?

Sometimes we find ourselves in hard places, and life is not going the way we planned. This is the time we have to look for the positive. We have to make the choice to “bloom where we’re planted,” and God will meet us there. In our songs of praise amid the difficulties, God will come. The Holy Spirit, the comforter, will minister to our every need. The Lord has promised to never leave or forsake us, so if He is present, we should have no fear or worry. Without fear or worry, we can learn to be content. No fretting, no regretting, just trusting the Word is truth.

When we place our hope in Christ and He is our guide, He will give us the ability to walk satisfied, no matter our circumstances. He is our all in all.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

How Can We Persevere like Paul?

While our trials may not include shipwreck, beatings, and imprisonment, we can emulate Paul’s perseverance by looking to Christ. Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said, “The Apostle Paul counseled us to be rooted, grounded, and settled in our love for the Savior and our determination to follow Him.”

Concerning his apostolic calling, Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed” (2 Timothy 1:12). No matter our trials, we can remember in whom we believe as we “more fully nurture, fortify, and strengthen the roots of our faith in Jesus Christ.”

Paul understood that contentment does not come from circumstances but from an unshakable trust in Christ. He praised God from a prison cell, proving that joy is not found in comfort but in knowing who holds our future.

We, too, face moments of struggle. Life may not be unfolding the way we envisioned, and uncertainty can creep in. But this is the time to choose joy, trust God, and bloom where we are planted. In our songs of praise amid adversity, God meets us, and the Holy Spirit, our divine Comforter, ministers to our hearts. The Lord has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, so we have no reason to fear. No fretting, no regretting, just trusting that His Word is truth.

Paul’s example teaches us that perseverance begins with where we place our faith. Do we believe in the One who carries us? He wrote, “I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed” (2 Timothy 1:12). That same confidence can be ours today. We may not face shipwrecks or beatings, but each trial is an opportunity to root ourselves deeper in Christ.

So today, I encourage you: walk boldly, trust fully, and rejoice despite the storm. Let this be a season of renewed faith, knowing that God is shaping your heart for His glory.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10
